Kani headband (coming in store soon), Heritage 1981 dress, ASOS belt, vintage cardigan, vintage bag, Forever 21 socks & Urban Outfitters brogues.
In contrast to my previous black and white outfit post, here is a much more colourful outfit of mine :) This was taken a couple of weeks ago actually – i haven’t been able to post any of my latest outfits as the weather in melbourne is really horrible right now. It’s been raining the entire week (though not as bad as queensland) so i’ve just spent it at home organising stock for Vintage with Kani and reading Frankie.
I’ve received some lovely things in the mail, including this maxi skirt from The Robot Ninjas which is the most flattering maxi skirt i have ever owned. I’m actually wearing it right now because it is just so comfortable and you won’t believe it.. i feel really tall in it too!! So if you’re looking to give the maxi trend a go.. you won’t regret this one.
Also, i finally found high waisted bathers for $20 a piece on sale! They are from Hayden-Harnett, i bought the red and kaleidoscope ones. They finally arrived in the mail today, i must say i was very disappointed when they did not even knock on the door to give it to me (i was at home..!), even though i paid an extra $3.50 for signature confirmation, grr. Anyway, i love them and would probs suggest you to check them out if you are looking for some high waist ones. During my long and tiresome search for high waisted bathers, i would also suggest checking out Modcloth for all their styles, i love their polka dot red and black ones.. so tempting but i think two pairs is enough for now.

*Edit: girls, if you are thinking of getting the bikini online as well, there’s a 20% coupon code floating around (don’t know if it’s still valid) but give it a google, it may save you some money!*

Oh! And if you haven’t visited my new blogstore – Vintage with Kani, come take a look! There are plenty of vintage items (and some things from my closet too!) that are waiting to be taken home and loved. Especially these bags. And also a few little hands that are very eager to wrap you a beautifully packaged parcel!

My little sister and i are here writing to you all about the horrific flooding that is occurring in Queensland right now. We ourselves are lucky to be in Victoria and aren’t affected by the flooding but most of Queensland, the Sunshine State of Australia (which unfortunately, isn’t so sunshine anymore) is currently suffering from severe flooding due to heavy torrential rain. The photos are really quite confronting and the video footage is even worse.
There are many people missing and also a rising death toll and it’s times like these where we are reminded of how grateful we should be for what we have. There are images on the news which show entire houses being engulfed under water, with the only thing visible being the tip of their roof.
We have just donated $100AU to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Appeal. It’s pretty much all the money that came in from the Vintage with Kani blogstore opening yesterday. I guess it’s not a lot when $35million has already been raised but coming from a 15 and 18 year old sister team, i think we did our bit.

We are here to urge you all to consider donating to the appeal. I know many of the readers here are students and don’t earn much (me and my sister included both earn nothing much from our part time retail jobs), but any little amount is really going to make a difference when you look at the big picture. It doesnt’ matter how much you chip in, one dollar, two dollars, fifty dollars. It all counts as money that is desperately needed to help thousands of families rebuild and repair.

You can donate to the official appeal here. You can do it by mail, internet banking, on the phone, or even in person and there are also facilities for international donations to come through.
Oh and don’t accuse us of not donating because we did:

Vintage With Kani

So i’ve pondered about this for a while now. Many bloggers have their own blog stores where they sell their clothing and other finds. I have even received emails before asking if i had a store selling my vintage finds or even encouraging me to set one up! The time has come and i have realised that i have just too many vintage clothes squeezed into my 3x4metre room. If i want to continue finding more precious little gems, i have to part with some first.
So welcome to ‘shop k is for kani’, @ vintagewithkani.blogspot.com. This little website, open officially open in half an hour at 10AM EST, will be filled to the brim with nifty little items from both my closet and vintage collection. There is also a huge clearance on lots of cute (non-vintage) jewellery for cheap as chips prices (i don’t think there’s any jewellery over $5..).

Plus aside from that, i have tonnes of vintage clothing and bags (well i say tonnes for an eighteen year old) up for sale, all accumulated from a year of scouting/collecting. My sister helped me sort and photograph everything with me over the span of two days and it was much too hard to send my clothing to the ‘for sale’ pile. We even took a spontaneous trip to ikea in 34 degree heat to buy a clothing rack so we could physically separate ourselves from the items that will be going to new homes!

Vintage with Kani will bring you many vintage blouses, cardigans, etc which will all be very reasonably priced compared to other online vintage stores :). There currently aren’t any dresses in store at the moment since i just haven’t had time to alter anything, but maybe in the future! if i can ever make myself part from them haha.

There’s also a selection of new items – lots of cute preppy bow neckties, bowler hats and over the knee socks which were originally bought for a project but i don’t require them anymore – so they need some loving homes too!

These shoes also need a home – they’re just too small :(

There’s also an amazing vintage tan leather wallet in between the 90something posts – see if you can find it!
We will be shipping worldwide. There’s also combined shipping available for both multiple items and for etsy + blogshop combined purchases and the instructions on purchasing will be on the site.
Anyway i hope you enjoy – it won’t be so often that there will be things up for sale, but if the response goes well, maybe i’ll think about bringing more vintage to you all!

Oh and lastly, welcome to the top i almost put up for sale, but just can’t bear to part with it. Maybe next time round, maybe.
