6445 013 0137 in our worldOn Thursday afternoon, I touched down in Sydney to celebrate the launch of ASOS’s exclusive to Australia Spring/Summer collection. As always, without fail, Sydney graced us with its beautiful weather and after a relaxing overnight stay I happily indulged in Friday’s sunny 32 degree weather. And at the end of September, barely into Spring – who would have thought? Over breakfast at the Sailors Club in Rose Bay, we were introduced to ASOS’s super special collection which is launching so very soon, ready for the Aussie Spring/Summer season. It covers everything from beachwear, formal outings and music festivals. For me, a self-confessed ASOSholic (a term which should totally be a real word), this is fabulous news, and probably something which will undoubtedly make my wallet weep. I’ve always found it a little bit disheartening when shopping at online European and American stores, I have to scroll through pages and pages of amazing clothes – but of the opposite season’s collections. Although, sometimes this means we manage to snap up a good bargain in the clearance sections! However, it’s going to be so refreshing now that we can all browse through Summer ranges exclusive to Australia. In particular, I have my eye keenly on the lace and floral number above. A little birdy also says that there will be a special vintage inspired capsule collection – ‘ASOS Salon’, popping up on our screens soon. I’m counting down the days..!

In celebration, we were asked to select a few pieces from the site to wear to the event and these are just a few of my favourite pieces from this exciting new collection!

Wearing: Catarzi lilac pillbox ribbon hat, ASOS cream scallop bib blouse, ASOS white pephem skirt, vintage sweater guard, Topshop puppy print socks, Topshop ACTON buckle boots and vintage & handmade bracelets {Photos by my sister}

While this semi-sheer white blouse and pephem mini skirt ensemble was perfect for the balmy 32 degree morning in Sydney, I didn’t quite have time to shoot this outfit in Sydney. Instead, I managed to brave a 14 degree Melbourne morning to shoot this outfit, looking and feeling ridiculously under-dressed for the icy winds that threatened to topple my pillbox hat off my head! So my ASOS saved items list seems endless, and when choosing which pieces to wear, it took me so long to single out my three favourite pieces – the pillbox hat, cream blouse and white pephem skirt – hoping that I could attempt to work them together. Some vibrant pink puppy print socks and a vintage sweater guard later, I was off and out, without realising that this outfit has brought together a few of my most favourite things at the moment: Vintage inspired pillbox hats, whites/creams/pastels, sweater guards, quirky prints, pephems (peplum, on a hem!) and some staple brown leather boots. All pieces which I believe are must-haves for this Summer!

keeping it simple

Oops! I can’t believe how fast time flies when you’re completely inundated with uni study, keeping an online shop constantly stocked, seeing friends and attempting to make the weekly Pilates and Body Attack classes at the gym! I can’t wait for the semester to finish. I’ve been itching to finish all this study because I’ve got a couple of exciting projects lined up before it ends. And even more to come in the summer break when I will be able to dedicate a lot more time to my beloved blog and its readers. But for now, here’s a comfortable and casual outfit, consisting of what normally gets thrown on when I just want to take things easy: a collared shirt, woollen jumper and navy high-waist jeans is one of my favourite staple university outfits. I’ve probably mentioned this before but it’s extremely practical for those windy campus days, when wearing skirts can lead to endless embarrassing surprises! Anyway, I impulsively picked up this vintage jumper at the markets the other week without lending a thought to the fact that 1. I already own a red jumper and 2. it was nearing Spring/Summer. Luckily for me, Melbourne’s bipolar weather and 15 degree days made it just right to take this jumper out to play! If you don’t believe the ridiculously temperamental weather we have down here, it’s forecast to be a top of 27 degrees on Thursday and then 14 degrees on Saturday…although I do get to indulge in a taste of summer when I head up to Sydney for the day on Friday! More to be revealed later :)

spring collection

If there was one season where floral hair crowns couldn’t be more appropriate for, it would be Spring! With flowers blooming in every garden and park, it’s only natural to want to wear them in your hair as well, right? I feel like it was only a few days ago I was celebrating 500 Etsy sales and I really don’t know what happened after that made me suddenly (excitingly) hop past 600 sales – thank you so much everyone! I’ve drawn the giveaway for my 500 sales giveaway and have happily sent through a multicoloured rose crown to the wonderful Jeline – congratulations girl! Since then, I’ve been spending more time than I ever have working in my studio, on a very special collaboration that I hope to be sharing soon.

I’ve also been busy putting together another capsule collection to add to my store, featuring a fresh new bunch of the ever-so-popular  oversize floral crowns - these are now also available in red, maroon, pink, coffee, blue, lavender and purple. This new range of floral crowns are boldly voluminous, because bigger IS better, and are sure to turn heads when you wear them out. With Springtime comes the annual Melbourne Cup races, and you could really up the ante for Fashion on the Fields when you have beautiful blooms adorning your hair. For those holding on the lingering heat of summer up in the Northern Hemisphere, don’t let the gloom of autumn/winter set in just yet and bring some of hte sunshine back with these delightful florals!Also new in are my rustic rose headpieces which are now available in hair clips, headbands and hair wreaths. These remind me of the country side and I can picture them being paired beautifully with antique white tea dresses. Sunflowers and roses are also gracing my Etsy store this time of the year, so don’t forget to check out the new arrivals at my Etsy store here.
With all the rain that Melbourne’s been getting, I personally can’t wait to get these in my hair blank spring collection:)
