What a night! ‘Step into Spring’ at Topshop with Grazia Magazine and K is for Kani was an absolute blast! Featuring cocktails and canapés, a bustling crowd of guests gathered in store to celebrate all things Spring. When I arrived, I was so overjoyed to see my handmade floral headpieces neatly sitting in a beautiful antique white shelf stand, accompanied by the cutest ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ bunnies. It was also lovely to meet the wonderful Dom who was so friendly and bubbly as she helped manage the stall for the night. I guess one of the downsides of selling online is not being able to have the privilege to see your customers’ reactions to your products. Last night, it was such a joy to see the smiles as girls (and guys!) tried on each piece. I was so happy to see how easily the headpieces could work with all kinds of hair colours, hairstyles and outfits. Everyone looked so gorgeous!

One of the highlights of the night was being able to meet Grazia Editor Amy Molloy and Fashion Director David Bonney and share my headpieces with them! They also presented a preview of Topshop’s new racewear collection and a styling session for the annual Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival. I personally have my eye on a whole outfit featuring a beautiful, bright purple, pleated midi skirt as well as a crisp, embellished collar.

It was also a fantastic opportunity to catch up with fellow Melbourne bloggers and readers. A special thank you goes out to Jess and Jess of Topshop for organising the pop-up and event.  The K is for Kani pop-up stall is now set up at the front of Topshop, ready to continue on this weekend. Customers who spend $100+ at Topshop Melbourne this weekend can visit the stall to redeem a complimentary floral headpiece of your choice. There are so many boxes of headpieces waiting for you and I can’t wait to see you all with flowers in your hair! <3

Today I am so very excited to reveal one of the biggest collaborations my Etsy store has been a part of yet! A few months ago, Topshop contacted me to discuss a very special event they were planning to hold in celebration of Spring. Topshop often invites local independent businesses in to collaborate together for an in-store pop-up stall. With past pop-ups including Mr Lincoln florists, Notemaker stationery, Ricketts Point ice-cream and Miss Fox’s nail art, I couldn’t be more honoured when Topshop contacted me to ask if I was interested in creating a unique new collection of headpieces for a K is for Kani pop-up!

After sending through some designs, the UK office settled on a special collection of seven different styles. These include some never-seen before festival crowns, as well as some of my best-seller statement oversize rose crowns as well. And then, possibly my biggest challenge yet, I spent the last eight weeks making hundreds of floral crowns. In the end, my studio looked like it had been showered with flowers, with roses covering every flat surface in the room.  This probably explains my slightly less frequent blogging over the last couple of months, but I’m sure this pop-up stall will make up for it! :)

The pop-up stall will be launching tonight at the Topshop Topman & Grazia’s ‘Step into Spring’ event, hosted at Topshop Chapel Street store in Melbourne, where VIP guests will also be having a private preview of the new Topshop racewear collection. As well as this, we’ll be hearing from Amy Molloy, Editor of Grazia Australia, who will talk all things trending this Spring. For this night of style and shopping, all purchases $100 or more will be able to redeem a complimentary floral crown. There will be something for everyone – big roses, small roses, headbands, hair wreaths, asymmetrical headpieces and more!

For those who aren’t coming to the VIP evening, this offer will also be available this weekend (13, 14 Oct) at Topshop Chapel St. All you need to do  is visit my pthe pop-up stall with your token to redeem :) And with Spring and the races just around the corner, they are the perfect accessory to complete your look!

For those who are coming this evening, my flowers and I look forward to seeing you there! And for those who aren’t in Melbourne, you can visit my flowers online @ http://kisforkani.etsy.com

Here are some more photos from the other day when my sister and I decided to hop in the car and chase the sun set with an early evening shoot. I had always imagined wearing this dress in an open field and under the warmth of the sun so when Melbourne happily granted us with a 25 degree day, we decided it was the perfect time to experiment. I generally never shoot in harsh sunlight as it just makes things more difficult than it should be, with shadows being cast in all the wrong places, such as under my fringe and on my eyes! However when you have the sun behind you, no shadows are cast and instead, you are bathed in this extremely warm glow of light and glorious light flares. This dress was the perfect piece to frolic around the flower fields with, with its textured cream fabric, gathered skater skirt and peeping V shaped back :)
