Our time in Split passed quickly as we spent much of our time outside of Split. However, as well as being a convenient place to explore nearby towns and islands, the city here has a lot to offer as it is one of the biggest cities on the Dalmation Coast. We loved walking up and down the Riva Harbour and eating at the numerous restaurants with outdoor seating facing the ocean. Getting a gelato is also a great idea here and there is gelato basically everywhere you look. Split is also home to numerous markets so there’s a heap of shopping you can do here as well. Of course, there’s also the Diocletian’s Palace which makes up the majority of old town. When you see just how many small restaurants and shops fit into the Palace, it really puts into perspective just how big it really was. Whilst we were here, the annual Diocletian’s Days festival was also on, celebrating the late Emperor with numerous activities in and around old town. Here’s a little visual diary of what saw, ate and got up to in this wonderful city.
