Backstage at Alice McCall with Bowers & Wilkins

Alice McCall backstage is always an absolute thrill to cover. The energy before the show is electrifying, everyone is in such a brilliant mood and seeing the pieces up and personal allows you to appreciate just how much effort and detail has gone into every look that walked down the runway of Cruise 14/15. Celebrating 10 years of Alice and with glitter flowing through every models’ hair, I felt like I was being transported into a dreamlike landscape filled with lipstick print and endless pastel. Amongst the crazy amount of things that needed to happen before the show began, there was so much laughter and excitement which I had so much fun capturing. I’m beyond excited for Alice, who I finally met for the first time this year – her quirky prints, use of colour and eclectic designs are one of the things I look forward to most every Summer and even though Summer has just ended, I just can’t wait for the next to begin.

Wearing: Josh Goot vest (similar here), ASOS white crop top (similar here), ASOS flippy scuba skirt (similar here), Faith Chesterton black multi strap heels, Felix Rey Cityscape bubble umbrella, Jolie & Deen rings and Deadly Ponies Mr Pirouette bag.

Yippee I’m back in Melbourne, time to get all my posts organised and up! It was such a dreary start to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia this year. I’ve never associated Sydney with rain however it rained as we walked across the tarmac at Sydney airport and it continued to rain all week when I was up for MBFWA.

I picked up this Josh Goot puffer vest the week before at the Chapel St sample sale and brought it to Sydney with me as my only piece of outerwear. Day #1 turned out to be freezing and with a suitcase of all sorts of separates but no looks planned, I’m so glad that I was able to pull together a couple of basic pieces to go with the crazy print of this vest.

Jysla and I shot these photos under cover before Carla Zampatti – by luck I remembered to pack an umbrella (I forgot last year) however no umbrella was big enough to stop us from getting drenched in the torrential weather as we climbed out of the taxi on Sunday afternoon :’-)

Before I make the most of the twilight hours sleeping in my fluffy hotel bed I thought I would quickly share some of my favourite looks from the Myer Spring Summer 14 show that was on a couple of hours ago. I flew up to Sydney this morning for this fashion launch and it was so good to be back, even if it was just for a short while. I’ve literally been on my feet all day running around for meetings so I was so glad to finally be able to rest my feet and sit down for a good hour to watch the show. I was really happy to see that white has been embraced in a huge way with so many of the collections featuring white in some way. White is like my black & now I am glad that I have so many more choices in store when it comes to this classy, fresh shade. It was also great to see Kate Sylvester’s pieces restyled in a different way again after first seeing them at MBFWA earlier this year. One of the things that was most exciting to see was that there was an element of nature channeled throughout the styling of the show. I haven’t got many photos of what I’m trying to describe (as I was too busy looking on with a smile on my face because I love anything to do with mother nature) however many of the models carried bunches of fresh flowers, greenery arrangements and even a bag on a bindle stick. In the swimwear collections, models wore starfish and feather earrings. Now if only I could walk down the street with large starfish shaped earrings without looking out of place..
