I just wanted to share with you a couple of photos of this dress which I also used as part of the White Bohemia Blogger's Edit. It's a midi-length dress and hits just at my knees. And I've never owned a midi-dress. Ever. Mainly because I feel like they make me seem short and I don't really need that when I'm already not so tall to begin with - 160cm to be exact (I always seemed to get asked this and suddenly wonder how tall/short do I look?!) But this Wish dress, for some reason, just feels so flattering on. It's made out of a very flowy, dusty pink material & has beautiful cut-out detailing on the front. It's name, the 'Angelica' dress which I think easily embodies the dress's design. Wore this on my birthday & loved it. Officially 20, which makes me have the urge to pack away anything teenager-ish as I venture into the world of...hm being 'old-er'!

As a lover of fashion, I've always got my eye on certain designers and brands that I like. Whether it be a certain trend that I really love, the general aesthetics and style of their collections or just some beautiful piece that I decide to stalk until I can't stand it anymore and just have to get my hands on it. I can't quite remember how I first ran into Samantha Wills but I do remember this piece that I fell in love with, a gold lion chain bracelet that stole my heart and never gave it back.. So when I heard that Samantha & the team liked my blog and were keen on having me involved in the Australian version of the Samantha Wills 'Bloggers Edit', I was more than happy to participate :)

We were asked to shoot our interpretation of the theme 'white bohemia' in a 'style off' competition and readers and fans are invited to vote for their favourite blogger looks to crown a special winner! I chose to style my Samantha Wills pieces around a neutral white colour scheme with lots of delicate eyelet details, scallop edges, tiers and textures. Just a few photos of what I wore to the Steve Madden Australia launch party, taken in the afternoon just before I left. I've been a big fan of Gorman as always and have finally acquired some of their pieces in my wardrobe recently. I couldn't help but match this basketweave print skirt with all sorts of contrasting shades of hot pink and lime. It's one of these outfits which didn't take much thinking and was just thrown together with colours I never thought about putting together and I quite like how it turned out. It gives a bit of a tropical Summer feel with the citrusy colours. The pencil skirt style is something I'm really taken a liking for after years of straying away from this body hugging look and is a simple way of keeping an outfit smart.

Marcus' hellraisers - crazy cool

Last Thursday night was the Steve Madden Bourke St flagship launch party. It's the tenth store of its kind in the world and the largest one as well. After almost leaving my SD card at home and running back to get it, Marcus & I made it there in a 'fashionably late' manner to what looked like to be a great night ahead. It was my first time attending an event like this and I was quite overwhelmed with all the media (both camera and video), spontaneously taking photos and interviewing people. I'm pretty awkward on video so.. hopefully I personally never run into the videos on the net! The Steve Madden store itself is fabulous, three whole floors of shoes, shoes and more shoes. Lots of NYC style finger foods, a very generous 'spin the wheel' which landed on 'Free shoes!' when I spun it and plenty of Melbourne fashion bloggers to meet including Michelle, Cecylia & Estelle. Overall a lovely night and I finally got my hands on a pair of Gretttas, a perfect way to start my weekend.

The Australian colours, green and gold inspired my outfit for Australia Day. I've always had the urge to pair my greens with yellow (or gold) and was always met with the thought: 'nah' - as it's one of those sorta strange combinations to wear around over here. Like as if I'm an athlete at the Olympics. Anyway, I thought I'd bust them out together on Australia Day but felt a little bit funny in them and added in, well, just about every other colour of the rainbow. A pink chiffon cardigan, a bright blue belt and navy platform wedges and now all I'm missing is violet. Tom & I spent the afternoon at a fishing lake where we attempted to catch fish - but instead we caught many snags, picking wild blackberries and seeing dozens of wild kangaroos and rabbits. One of the most exciting competitions I've ever been a part of is here and I'm here to represent down under Australia in this fabulous experience. The 2012 ASOS Future Stylist competition features 15 handpicked international style bloggers from all over the world who are challenged to style a differently themed ASOS look over a series of five rounds. The prize, a trip to the UK to style a celebrity shoot and the official title of Future Stylist 2012 and I'm so delighted-excited-happy-chappy to be in this group of bloggers!

Gorman lime t-shirt, Finders Keepers 'pretty thing' skirt , ASOS wedges & belt, vintage clutch & necklace

When I saw this skirt, I had no idea how it would look. I have always been quite familiar with the drop back asymmetrical style, but having two lengthy pieces of fabric draping on the sides? I had no clue. So what did I do? Of course, I made it mine. After experimenting with all sorts of combinations - jumpers, singlets, t-shirts, short sleeve blouses, long sleeve blouses, crop tops.. I settled for this casual look. A lime green (love) with navy polka dot t-shirt which as soon as I saw, I fell in love with. The cutesy very-Gorman print gives the good old casual tee a refreshingly girly look and has made me re-think and give t-shirts another chance in my wardrobe. One may say that these two colours put together conjures images of carrots.. but I hope the spots and accessories detract from that particular thought!

Sometimes the best outfits are ones that you just throw together last minute, without the thought of what should go with what. I'm not quite sure why I decided to put bright red in this pastel blue outfit but I think I like it. There's a lot going on here - embroidery on the shirt, print, an embossed belt. There's also a lot of textures involved - suede, felt, chiffon, leather, metal. And it's putting these sorts of pieces together that get me really excited as I really wouldn't have planned to put something like this together otherwise. These gold accessories, which have been in my kind ownership and care for ages now, have been on my hands and neck pretty much everywhere lately but have only just made their blog debut. These navy platform heels have subtle bows on the front which I also adore. With a deserted courtyard in the city as my backdrop, hello to my latest loves.

One of the things that I am really loving at the moment, aside from usual dashes of colour and print, is neutrals. And if it's on a colour of a petticoat or embellished with beads and sequins.. even better. These photos are the last set of photos taken at Venus bay. The wild grass field behind our holiday house begged for a few photo snaps. I loved the endless spans of bush and land behind the properties! There was plenty of trees and grass, fruit trees and and even a few mountains which had a really narrow sand path that led to the beach. I took it once (I think it was about four mountains worth of walking) and I was positively scared out of my mind by the suspicious rustling noises in the bush, spiderwebs & bull ants and the fact that I had no idea where it would lead us!

I've never really been an electric blue person but I thought I'd try my luck when I saw this tulip back and asymmetrical hem dress a couple of months ago. It's the third piece of asymmetrical goodness to arrive in my wardrobe and I think it's about the last one I'll give in to buying but I just love how these hems flutter behind you as you walk down the street! I went for a bright and really sort of impulsive mix of fuchsia accessories to go with this dress and sort of liked how it turned out. I own these platform heels in two colourways. Firstly, the fuschia and red one pictured above, the last in my size and colour on ASOS. Secondly, a dark navy pair which I don't think I've worn on the blog yet! Both very comfy to wear except when walking up hills and bumpy surfaces.. I don't like that. These photos were taken at the Tarwin River whilst waiting for the fish to bite. Perhaps the reason why no fish were caught was because I donned myself in too bright an outfit as apparently fish don't like seeing bright clothing on the fishing platform?

New Years Eve last week was one of the longer days I've had, waking up at 7AM in the morning and drifting off to sleep somewhere around 4AM. I spent the first few hours awake baking vanilla cookies and cupcakes with my friend Jess, had lunch with Tom at one of my favourite Japanese places in South Yarra, the afternoon packing for a week away at Venus Bay, the early evening at a friend's farewell, the night at the city to catch the NYE fireworks.. as well as many other places in between. With the various things planned for the day, I decided to keep it simple and just stay in this one outfit for the entire day. Planned mainly for the night out in mind, with lots of sequins on both my skirt and top. But yes, I walked into Coles in the early hours of the day in this ensemble.. Nevertheless! I had some amazing sushi and spent the majority of the day feeling like the luckiest girl in the world with my favourite person in the world to celebrate our three year anniversary together.

Wishing you all a lovely start to the new year and as cliche as it sounds, I can't wait to see what's in store for 2012 ♡

1. the outfits

I thought I'd do a quick recap of my favourite outfits from 2011. Petticoats, high waisted pants, overalls, neutrals, colour & vintage were definitely on the top of the list and I can't wait to head into 2012 with these pieces - and of course experimenting with new things as well. I've realised that there was an absence of necklaces, bracelets and rings in my usual day to day outfits. I would most likely point the cause of this as having to go to uni so often and simply deciding to go without for convenience' sake. Though this has instead stirred up a huge urge to start up a new jewellery collection and well, last week I suddenly found myself buying five necklaces and two rings. Can't wait to dabble into the shiny touches of gold again!

2. lately

A few photos I took late December at the beach, wearing one of my favourite high waisted bikinis from ModCloth. Big fan of the high waisted look for the beach though I think I must be one of the very few who like them as I felt a little out of place in this swimsuit.. no one seems to like the high waists like me! The sun was giving off really good photography vibes so I just had to snap a few photos :)

3. instafeeds

Things I've been up to include spending much too long at the hairdresser getting a portion of my hair bleached. It's the first time I've ever done anything to the colour of my hair and I'm suddenly too afraid to curl it, which is what I really wanted to try out with the brassy blonde strands. I also uncovered a pair of coral pink flats that I almost forgot I owned. I cleaned, reorganised and set up a much neater Etsy creating studio.. and also visited a black and white retro photo booth for the first time :)

4. new diaries

Tom, me & Jess shall be diary buddies for 2012 as we fight through another year of our degrees and crazy packed lives with the red moleskine weekly diary :) I love how it has the days on the left and a blank page on the right - perfect for the endless number of lists I tend to create. The green heart sticker has already been put to good use on 31.12.2011 which marks Tom & my 3rd year together and the 'seaside' and 'holiday' sticker have been stuck side by side to mark my first ever whole week at the beach.. a fabulous way to start 2012!

I thought this bright red jumper was the perfect addition to my outfits last week with all the festive spirit being thrown around. It buttons down the back and can even double as a buttoned cardigan. Another great functional piece that will definitely be getting a lot of wear out on cool Summer days, as well as bringing it through all the way into the Autumn/Winter season. Being red it seems to go with an abundance of things in my wardrobe though I decided to keep it simple with some stripes. I layered my sweater guard with a longer necklace and added some bright red lace up wedges that I've been dying to wear since I bought them.

2012 is almost here & I just can't wait to share with you all a recap of 2011, new projects, my new hairdo, my new diary (I love diaries) & many more blog posts :)

Wearing: YesStyle maxi cardigan, The Story Of 'Marilou' Top, Romwe shorts, ASOS suede loafers, MinkPink ring, vintage scrunchie, sweater guard & bag

We were battling the elements to take these photos as the evening breeze kept sending my hair and cardigan in the most unflattering directions possible. I've always, always wanted a really long cardigan like this to walk around and have it draping behind me like a cape so when I saw this wine coloured one I knew I had to have it. Paired with my love of delicate cream/neutral coloured tops - with this beige cream one which has little eyelets throughout the collar and just calling to be embellished with a sweater guard. I painted my nails a sheer shimmery salmon pink a few days ago. Been really loving the sheer polishes over the solid colours lately as I feel they look much more natural. I've also started a new sort of ring-love phase after discovering the adjustable MinkPink rings which means that I can make the ring smaller than the usual size 6 so that it will actually fit my stick fingers - very happy! So with chicken, red onion & avocado sandwiches on hand, Tom & I watched the sunset over St Kilda and then headed back to the CBD for some late night nibbles :)

So I've been trialling the iPad thanks to Vodafone for the past week to do my daily blogging tasks, including anything from replying to emails, playing around with Instagram, tweeting, receiving live notifications, using Skype for the first time (I know - in fact I skyped with Edric for a little virtual collaboration which you can see here) and writing this blog post! It's probably the first time I've spent so long with an Apple touch screen devices, given I hadn't owned one before and I was pretty much surprised to find that there was an app for all my blogging essentials – Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, Etsy, Bloglovin and Facebook. Not to mention ASOS Magazine and Instagram (come follow me – "kisforkani"), both of which are so addictive. I've been thinking of switching to an iPhone when my plan ends and now I can't decide which one to get. Given that Vodafone has a pay nothing upfront deal for the iPad 2 this Christmas and it sounds much like the familiar way of hooking up to a new phone plan.. I might accidentally end up with both. The photos above from my Instagram – clothing and outfits, a dollhouse I bought to put my perfume, make up & jewellery in, a record player I *discovered* in my living room, some red suede wedges I am dying to wear, oysters and salad, sunlight and early mornings and Christmas lights. Just snippets of my week posted on the easiest to use retro/vintagte photo editing program I've ever used.

December is the season of festivities. Last week Tom & I went to Carols by Candlelight at a local council park. There were tonnes of 'family friendly' kids activities such as face painting, bubble blowing and jumping castles.. as well as a large Carols program concluding with a laser show and fireworks. Going with the Christmas mood, we headed off to Ivanhoe to see the Christmas lights. A few days later it was Tom's 21st birthday & we went to a quirky little Japanese restaurant for dinner. Pretty much my new favourite place with the best raw beef.. Wabi Sabi :)

I was in a major Christmas mood this week and just had to wear this jewel green dress I bought impulsively for one of the many events and dinners coming up this festive season. I was almost going to wear it to Carols, wearing it around the house before going out until I suddenly decided.. nah. I guess it's not very practical to wear something floor length trampling around grassy parks. Still love the colour and can't wait to wear it out soon! Made this headband for my Etsy store but then fell in love with it too much to list it so it's now mine :) Absolutely loving diorama like scenes on headbands!

Last week I put together this outfit for a special guest post on the Bardot 'Style File' blog. All the bright colours in store really inspired me to dig out this pair of fuchsia and red pair of heels to create this bright little look. The refreshing colours in store actually really got to me and I ended up purchasing an orange and pink dress with an open back to wear for New Years Eve as well.. and then another jewel green dress later that night. I loved this blue necklace + pink/nude singlet + bright green skirt combination so much that I wore it out straight after to go to a birthday dinner. Supre sequin lace singlet, MinkPink shorts (via Market HQ), ASOS wedges

Aztec really couldn't get better than a print on a teeny pair of ruffle shorts by MinkPink. With something in a print and design as busy as this, I like to keep it simple and pair it back with a plain sort of top and shoes. A highly impulsively purchased white lace top with sequins (the sequins sold it to me) was of course what I went for. And I'm going to cross my fingers that I will never acquire another cream lace top again. Just a little obsessed with them this Summer and I think I already have five. Also, I've realised I'm starting to lose the socks lately too. Last Summer socks went with everything for me but this Summer I think I'll be keeping it a bit more simple and going without!

Anyway my fringe is hovering annoyingly close to my eyes once again and this time and the next time I head to the hairdresser I have planned, something different to be done to my hair. Can't wait :)

strawberry sweet

Wearing: Somedays Lovin cropped singlet and DIY vintage shorts

Just a few photos of what tom & I got up to yesterday around Mornington. We headed off to the Sunny Ridge strawberry farm where we picked our hearts' content worth of strawberries. Our late lunch was at an quirky little cafe filled with flowers in barrels, a cubby house, bean bags and to top it all off, handmade crafts for sale - where I enjoyed the best potato salad I had ever had in my life. We then drove past the most beautiful arrangements of lopsided letterboxes, on gravel roads where passing-by 4WDs created an atmosphere of dusty dirt and only dusty dirt.. to Shoreham beach where we wandered about rock pools, searching for sea life. Under one of the first rocks Tom had turned, he actually spotted a large crab about 20cm in length. Unfortunately it hid under coral far too quickly and I didn't manage to get my camera out in time to snap a photo. Our trip finished off with a cheap buffet meal at Foodstar, a place we had both been to far too many times when we were younger. Driving past Frankston four times in the past week really made us crave it again so we stuffed ourselves. So good.

I think I made this DIY t-shirt almost two years ago now and only just got around to wearing it. The t-shirt pretty much inspired my whole outfit as the only way I could really think of wearing it was to dress it up with some sort of a blazer. Two minutes later and I have on this scalloped blazer and floral pencil skirt, a sort of quirky twist from the 'corporate' sort of pieces, considering the playful scallops and really un-corporate floral pattern of the skirt. I wore this out to the city last week, though I didn't wear the geek glasses, they were just for fun :)

For the past two days I was at Mornington Peninsula. On Thursday I headed with Tom & others to the Peninsula Hot Springs where we spent the afternoon soaking in the 30-40 degree pools. It was the first time I had been to a place like this and I swear every pool over about 37 degrees made me feel lightheaded and dizzy. I think I just prefer my pools lukewarm.

On Friday a few of my friends from marketing class & i drove down to Sorrento for a day trip. The Sorrento back beach was probably one of the most amazing beaches I had ever seen.. not that I have seen many :P Although there were a huge lot of vicious seagulls flying around above our four boxes of fish & chips and wouldn't leave us alone. You'd think I had owned a telescopic lens taking that seagull shot above but no, I was hardly zoomed in and this little (or should I say big) fella was just a metre above our heads casually cruising above us, with about 20 of its seagull friends circling the skies above, waiting to swoop and pounce. The story gets funnier as we sort of ended up being defeated by the creepy seagulls above and moved under a shelter to finish our food off instead. We later spent hours of our time building sandcastles, climbing Great Wall of China style steps to the top of a mountain/hill and taking over 150 continuous self-timer shots on my camera.

Long gone is the era of triangle bikini tops and flimsy string bottoms. Well.. at least for me. Ever since discovering the 60s inspired, pin up doll high waist style bikinis, I've been in love. So much love that I have five pairs of them. Two are from Hayden Harnett. The kaleidoscope print mixed with red. Two are from ModCloth. The polka dotted navy and blue styles. And the last pair, coral pink from ASOS. I really can't get over them!

Today was the bi-annual Markit design market at Federation Square. There were about 100+ designers having stalls there and I had brought in a little display for the Etsy info-stall. We were asked to bring a few items and some flyers/business cards, so I decided to put these little bits of info into a small little package with a few other extras thrown in. The market itself was fabulous, there were so many amazing handmade sellers with their collections up for sale, selling anything and everything including stationery, homewares, clothing, jewellery and "blogger" terrariums. I'm pretty much kicking myself for not getting a terranium because I said I would come back for it. I ended up purchasing two hilarious cards and a notebook for Tom. Anyway my sister and I ended up grabbing a bento box from Kenzan GPO and then we walked around the city aimlessly for about too many hours before finally collecting my items and heading back home. I think my biggest feat of today was wearing heels and being on my feet all day from 8:15AM - 5:45PM. I really don't know what I was thinking when I put my shoes on!

bright at brighton

These photos just make me yearn for those hot summer days. Earlier this week, a few of us headed to Brighton beach for a mini photoshoot. Yohan brought along a bunch of rainbow coloured helium balloons, which matched perfectly with the famous Brighton bathing boxes lining the coastline. Yohan & i were the two "models" of the day and we were joined by Arthur & Venny. I really enjoyed my time as I'm normally always in front of the camera rather than behind it so it was a refreshing experience to finally practise some photography. I've never really been an expert at shooting in dazzling bright sunlight so I was very grateful of the advice I got from the others! So I had an amazing time shooting Yohan, she was fabulous in front of the camera & I really couldn't get enough of the bright clear skies, seeing the ocean for the first time in almost a year and feeling the soft, soft sand between my toes. This was actually the first time I had ever been to Brighton and I will definitely be going back for more this Summer.

P.S. Etsy is having an little promotional stall at the biannual Federation Square design market, 'Markit' this Sunday. I'm very excited to say that I will be displaying some of my handcrafted hair accessories at the market. I'll be there for a bit in the morning and I hope you can all drop by to have a look at all the talented Melbourne designers that will be selling at the market (I am so excited to check it out too!). I'll also be handing little paper bags of love to Kirsteene, the Etsy community manager in charge of the stall so be sure to come by & pick one up!

Tom & I checked out the annual Johnston Street Fiesta yesterday night. It is a Hispanic-Latin American festival celebrating all things Spanish and had the festive buzz like the night markets you see ever so often overseas, but hardly ever in Melbourne. There was a lot of funky food stalls and i think Tom was especially excited about it. We had paella, wood oven pizza and overpriced spiral potatoes on a kebab stick. There was also a stall selling amazing mexican bags with all the colourful weaving that i absolutely LOVE. It was an extremely packed event and i silly-ly decided to wear my new super tall platform wedges. Probably not the best place to break out into new shoes with the bumpy surface and crowds in a market. My dress is from Elliatt, a newly launched Aussie label with the best line of festive pieces, their look book, 'FIESTA' and my choice to wear this dress to a Fiesta, was highly coincidental and made me laugh after i realised!

If you follow me on Facebook you would have seen a sneak peek of this outfit before. This is what i wore yesterday on the day of my last exam of the semester and also the beginning of my three months freedom, It's a throw-together of a lot of things i like, lace, leopard print, aztec and prep. Fortunately the weather was a beautiful 28 degrees so it really was the perfect day to get dressed for. Not too hot, not too cold. I went with this soft suede bag which i've been using pretty much non-stop since i received it. Some lace on lace, a blouse as a light jacket (typical me) as well as some casual low stacked heel boots & spotty socks. Tom & i spent the night checking out things to do in sydney (thinking of going for NYE) as well as heading to our fave fish & chips place to have a huge seafood platter, full of greasy deep fried prawn, fish, calamari, oysters, squid & chips. The bonus part was the free 1/2 dozen oysters offer (which we did not know about) that came with our order. Absolutely mouthwatering. I can't explain how much i love oysters.

These are some of the things that are going through my mind right now when I think about the summer ahead. Images of runaway brides, tall grassy fields, dancing around under clear umbrellas wearing denim jackets and floral maxi skirts. Silent, tranquil clear openings, DIY dream catchers, feathers and fringing on everything and anything. Cropped tops and knitted bottoms, knitted bags and floaty chiffons. This vibe is here to stay, both in my mind and in my wardrobe. So much love.

Skirts of this length and slouchy jumpers like this, paired with a pocket belt and collared blouse really make me happy. It's a comfort thing really, walking around in something both loose yet i hope, presentable. This very retro ankle length hem is an interesting length to wear. The skirt's from my mum and i was originally thinking of altering it into a little mini skirt but decided against it. The infinite flow of navy polka dot really appealed to me and i could not bear to just chop it off like that! I'm also eager to try out something midi, though i'm not sure how it'll look on my stature, maybe it'll work, maybe it's not for me. What skirt lengths are you interested in experimenting with this summer?

So i guess Melbourne Spring Fashion Week was a while away but i never really got around to posting some of these snaps of what i got up to. This is a small selection of the many photos that were taken during that month, some taken by me, some taken by roy and a couple by some lovely people we met (elma & the girls from meet me on the streets). It was a few days spent checking out some street fashion, a few day shows, walking down alleys and lanes, eating huge plates of noodles that i could never finish and i think it was also the week i broke my dslr (at least it's fixed now). Sort of long overdue post. I still can't get over how short my fringe got cut, i look like i'm wearing a bowl even more. I also miss the city and it's liveliness.. can't wait to spend some more time there this holidays. Hope you enjoyed this massively long photo diary ♡

Some more shots bc & i did together at carlton gardens. Definitely a really beautiful place with huge trees (both dead and alive), the gorgeous old exhibition building, the little lakes and footpaths, the flowers, the fountain, yep! Love it :) I put together these outfits late at night before the shoot and then lugged them onto the bus (i think it was, three bags) towards the city. I think everyone was staring at me cause of all the stuff i was carrying around (including five pairs of shoes!) But the day was fun so it's all alright :) Anyway now i officially have ONE exam left. And i am literally treating it as if i'm already on holidays. Spent yesterday cleaning my wardrobe and putting away my winter clothes and taking out my summer ones. Extremely excited to be able to take out the sewing machine again as well. Ahhhh can't wait.

Just a few photos of a fantastic maxi i can totally imagine walking around the Queen Victoria night markets in on a balmy summer's night with hopefully no rain and thunderstorms (like today). Tom's finished exams now and i'm 134% jealous because i still have two more left. Damn! But yes, i'm so excited that it's the summer break now and i can't wait for the Queen Victoria night markets to be back on so we can go and get some home made lemonade from the cardboard lemonade stall.. ahh so excited.

And because i love posting photos of food, here's some food that me and tom have been eating.. Fabulous japanese pancakes (seriously good, if you haven't tried it you have to), a waffle from Max Brenner. It came with a funny story actually. Tom wanted to go to the place next door which apparently had $5 waffles (this one was like, $15?) but i said this one was going to be pretty and came with cutely sliced strawberries and ice-cream so of course, he listened to me and when the waffle came he just looked flabbergasted staring at it. I was like: "what's wrong? It's too beautiful?" and he said: "why is it so small!???" Anyway more photos of food (i love lemon chicken and sweet & sour pork) and lots and lots of pasta bake..!

Kani hair wreath, Supre striped top, Toi et Moi skirt, Urban Outfitters pocket boots

Just posting the last shots edric & i did together here :) A cute little ensemble featuring a sweet fuchsia and indigo print skirt from Toi et Moi. In a pebble sort of pattern, which is a fresh addition which really stands out to me in my wardrobe full of floral clutter that i am sadly feeling a bit sick of! Paired with a staple striped top and my trusty pocket boots. To me, a striped top - whether its a long sleeve, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, jumper, whatever - is the perfect saviour for when anything else just doesn't go.

Anyway, after the shoot i went in what i would call a modified version of the above to a food photography workshop hosted by our uni photography club, which i am now the vice president of for 2012!!! Or a.k.a. the understudy/sidekick of the fab president jeremy :D. edric came along too to check out chapel st and all.

I got my photography on and attempted some artistic looking photos with the compulsory retro post-processing.. haha. I guess a lot of people i know like taking photos of people but i on the other hand, i think i prefer taking photos of scenery, objects as well as sort of planned editorial sort of fashion shoots!

Anyways i think we got a bit too snap happy with continuous shooting and ended up taking all these animation photos. Pretty much in major animation mood lately after attempting to make an animation video for my hair accessories but never really having time to make the finishing edits. I'm going to dot point this blog post because studying for exams that aren't english is really making me question my writing skills.

What i'm wearing: lace, wine, suede, a vintage bag. my fave boho necklace and.. floral. corduroy. overalls. Need i say more? Remember those retro flared cord pants? Well i still love them actually, been hunting for the perfect pair still. Anyway this is floral. corduroy. overalls. All in one. Yeah, i don't think i need to say more, i'm sort of in love. Which leads me to my next point.
Classical melbourne weather complaint: The weather in melbourne is completely bipolar. Yesterday it was some 13-16 degrees. Later this week it's going to hit 30. Zzz
Uni exams: I have my first exam tomorrow but i've been listening to music all day.. never been one to get anything into my head 24 hours before my exam. Though that's going to have to change when i attempt to fit in the whole marketing course into my head for the day after..! Fantastic.
Mandatory law school complaint: Last semester i spent 80%+ of my study time studying for my one law subject (real property law) and 20% total on my three commerce subjects. And guess what, all my commerce subjects scored better than my law unit. Zzz
Stupid shoe crisis: Last week i was shopping on ASOS trying to check out (and by check out, i mean place my order) a pair of shoes and a pair of pants. It was so damn frustrating because paypal wouldn't work. I tried i think.. 12 times? to pay but it kept saying it was not successful. What was worse, was the fact that i had the last pair of the shoes in stock EVER, in my size as well. So in an attempt to ensure my shoes constantly remained in my cart, i stayed on the ASOS page for a good hour and ended up checking out successfully (with my credit card), not one, but three pairs of shoes and the pants. Stupid. At least i could finally get shoes off my mind and continue studying again..
I don't like CoD: though this facebook page really made me laugh.
I can't wait for the summer break: things i will be doing include: not studying. Hopefully a lot of experimenting with my camera, learn another instrument, clean my room and be outdoors as much as i can, do enough hours driving so i can get my p's at least sometime in the next half year (fingers crossed), explore victoria.. i literally wrote a a4 page list of what i want to do at the back for my diary.

sea of floral

Continuing on from my last post on Inner Circle, I guess my love for nature somewhat inspires and influences the extremely excessive amounts of floral I wear. Before I started getting into even more crazy amounts of prints (such as aztec, ethnic and 80s style geometric), my entire 'print' section of my wardrobe was literally floral and only floral. There were floral skirts, floral bags, floral dresses, floral blouses, floral pants, floral dresses, floral blazers.. hats adorned with flowers, the list goes on. I even used Marc Jacobs Daisy!

Inspired by the beautiful blooms nature brings this time each year, whenever I would walk past a flower garden or see some wild flowers growing by the sidewalk, I would instantly want something in a similar print.

Just a quick little post to say - hello early Halloween! Halloween isn't celebrated as much in Australia (ok, i have been trick or treating once or twice. Fine, yes, some creepy aliens visited us last year), but ever since LOOKBOOK.nu started becoming SPOOKBOOK.nu, I've decided to join in on the fun. This handmade pumpkin hair wreath + a whimsical fairy like outfit (petticoats are my new fave things, by the way) + a diy pumpkin mask + an empty block of land which has been empty for so long i could just set camp and attempt to adversely possess it. Sorry, just let slip a lame law joke. Pumpkins in my hair, a creepy spider i made sure i continually held onto just so i don't forget it's fake (you don't want to know how many times i've been scared by it - even worse when it was me who bought it for my sister) + imaginary bats = a sweet little aussie halloween outfit shot in happy, bright sunlight.

floral hats & bow backs

Don't you love it when you're browsing through pages of dresses online and then you click through a dress because it looks pretty on the front, only to realise that it's got an even more amazing back? This happened to me when i was looking at this dress. I first fell in love with the casual t-shirt front and lightweight look of it only to click through to realise it has an open bow back! I can't get enough of plain fronts and exciting backs (i've got a few more dresses i've bought, two of which are essentially the same open back style but in different colours). Pretty much fallen in love with open back dresses and anything with interesting back details! And you'll probably be really excited to hear that this dress is now less than half price in the ClubCouture sale section - found out just as i was browsing through to find you guys the link (since i always seem to get emails asking me for direct links).. so you're in luck!

Anyway i paired the florals with a denim jacket i've owned for probably four years now and still wear of course. Don't you just love it when you own a piece you wear year after year? Feels so good. As well as a embroidered tassel bag that i love so much and well i think i just in some 70s mood. And i can't get over my vintage straw hat too :)

We saw three wedding shoots happening on that day and chatted it up with a friendly old couple who ran a cadillacs hire business and because i just can't get over the fabulousness of these 1950s cars.. meet mel & shirl, the couple who run the company. They asked me if i was married (haha). I told them i was 19. BC snapped a few photos of their cars. And i desperately concluded i need to hire one for something! I mean, how can you say no to a rocket looking car?!

Hello! So my second collection for Inner Circle is here and it's all about the woodland vibes.

Forests, nature and love. These are things that have been constantly inspiring and fuelling my woodland collection this year. I've always been a bit of a nature lover. When I was younger, I used to love going to the park to take photos with the beautiful spring flowers that would decorate the garden bed in my local park. The smell of fresh air was always my favourite smell and sunshine always made me happy. When I was 17, I attended a wedding for the first time. Ever. In fact I did not even know the couple well. The groom who I had met briefly, was the son of one of my parents' friends. But the wedding was amazing. It was quite an ordinary wedding but it was from that day on that I fell in love with weddings and everything hopelessly romantic. And it was my love for nature and romantic things that gave me the passion and inspiration to create what i create.

Yay! I finished uni! Okay, fine. Not my degree, just for this year. I still have at least 3.5 years to go haha.. damn. Anyway i've received a few lovely parcels in the mail recently, can't wait to show you guys as soon as my exams over (17th November's my last exam for this semester - can't wait). Among these are a fabulous bohemian bag that is big enough to use for uni, my new favourite skirt silhouette, floral corduroy overalls and a couple of new found designers to add to my favourite list. Just you wait and see!

This outfit.. how did it form? Well i threw my clutch on my bed where my skirt was laying casually and coincidentally with this stripey top i wear too much and bam! Outfit inspiration! Don't you love it when this happens? I've realised a lot of the time when i wear colour blocking combinations i always like to break it up with a striped top to make it less.. in your face haha.

Anyway, have you guys heard of Frocktober? Frocktober is an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, simply by wearing frocks! It was started up by a little group of fantastic people in our very own geelong :) Some of my favourite bloggers (I'm sure you know them already) - Bonnie from Flashes of Style, Tieka from Selective Potential and Sushi from Le Blog de Sushi are all taking part. Bonnie & Tieka are spreading awareness for the ModCloth campaign where 20% of every Frocktober dress sold this month goes to OCRF. Fellow Melburnian, Sushi is wearing a frock 5 days a week for it, you can donate to her here! And me? I guess i'm just spreading some awareness :)

Matt Palmer - Rain

I've never really been a pet person. When i was younger, i used to have the biggest dog phobia. In early primary school, students used to bring their pets to school and we'd sit in a circle and pass the dog/cat/rabbit/bird(or maybe not bird) around. Whilst everyone was happily patting the little furry things i would sit there and have a full blown heart attack. My poor poor five year old soul. I don't know why i was scared of pets, or animals in general. It might have been because I had never had a pet at home or been near any animals prior to having one shoved right in front of my face at school. Or it could just have been because i was quite small and perhaps the little puppies looked threatening.

Fast track to 2011. What's my view on pets? I LOVE THEM. Okay, i'll admit. Hyperactive dogs still really freak me out. Also, dogs that are bigger than about 40 cm tall also freak me out. Also, territorial cats really make me want to hide behind a bed. But hey, i really, really, really want a king charles spaniel or pomeranian cross! Now that's some change in attitude. Anyway, what was i saying? Oh yeah. I just wanted to point out that the cat that got into these photos was really unfriendly. It kept giving me the evil glare and it pranced around like it owned the place. Okay, fine I was in an driveaway/alley that may or may not have been private ground but man, this cat was scary. Just check out it's alien glare above!!! I felt like it was going to jump up and attack!

Oh and the clothes. I'm wearing many a shade of army/camouflage/khaki/beige. A fabulous anorak that finally fits. (Last time i bought one from Forever 21 and it was a little bit too loose). I'm really sorry but i think it's sold out on ClubCouture now, but hey, check out their sale section and you may forgive me.. Some john lennon sunnies which probably make me a bit too cool than my geeky self haha but damn i love them so much! My ever so trusty vintage brown leather boots that are so scratched and scraped that they might have to retire soon. Some gorgeous khaki ripped denim shorts and a boho beaded top. Oh and people ask me about my lipsticks quite often. This one's called 'sultry sienna' (lol) from maybelline.

H.E.R - Be the one

There's a time and place for everything and sadly trying to take photos on the road on a crazy sunny day on a busy saturday morning near a park hosting interschool sports (and hence cars driving past you every thirty seconds) is really not a good, well, time and place for shooting.

OKAY I'm a really big fan of this envelope clutch from Romwe!!! I've been bringing it out with me every where i go and it fits a lot more than it looks like it does. In fact.. it almost fits my laptop even! The statement pink colour was the last colour i saw in stock when i purchased it but i really think it should have been the first one to sell out :P

This fabulous silky dress is from LOVE, and i LOVE it. I know i am pretty lame with these puns but haha.. i don't know but it never occurred to me feather print is a 'me' print but yeah, it definitely is cause it's pretty much one of my favourite dresses right now, not to mention the bright colours it exudes. (Hush now spell-correct, stop telling me i am spelling 'favourite' and 'colour' wrong..)

And well, the sun did do some creepy things to the colour of my photos but my boots are actually beige with the red gusset :) I know they look fluoro in some of the photos (no idea?) but yeah, they are pretty much amazing as well. Thank you Market HQ for introducing them to my life <3

It's the return of my floppy wine wide brimmed hat!!! The hat that i loved ever so much and wore with too many outfits this time last year, has returned once again this season to bring you even more outfits and pops of colour haha. I think i wore this too much last year, but too bad :) I love it and no one can stop me from wearing it :D Except for the wind at my uni.

And just for fun.. because this envelope clutch looks like, well it's quite obvious it looks like and envelope. I couldn't help but attempt to send it down the post box chute. Luckily my sanity triumphed my..insanity? and i still have my clutch with me, safe and sound :)

Hence I've been collecting images of peaceful landscapes, serenity and purchasing magazines (Smith Journal) which I will never have time to read.. at least not until the semester is over. Fashion wise, I've been constantly lusting for anything that hits the waist and have also been straying from my usual colours and floral into experimenting with Aztec prints and neutral tones.

Amiel - Lovesong

This has got to be my favourite set of photos Edric and I did together! It was shot under a dead tree with branches overhanging in all directions like a skeleton umbrella. The first photo was of me pretending to be part of the dead tree i think. Pretty sure i felt mass awkward leaning around under a tree but yeah it turned out pretty cool with the branches and all! I feel like a zombie from some arcade game.. but in a good way, you know?

I saw this jewellery box in the window of a charity store a few months ago and really couldn't say no to the tapestry. Now i know tapestry this and tapestry that is always grandma this and grandma that but i just can't get over it! Everything with this sort of tapestry/carpet weave i just have to own. I mean i have a jewellery box, a backpack, a overnight bag, a blazer, a vest (oh just saw another bag on my bookshelf) with this fabulous floral tapestry thing. So much love.

Now we didn't know there would be a dead tree at the park at all, but luckily i had an outfit that would suit the location perfect. All brown, murky, muted and well dead tree like (the fringing on my vest pretty much is like a dead tree in clothing form!)

Oh and i'm completely getting into the whole fringing/crochet/bohemian sort of look these days. So this vest seriously just had to be mine. When i wear it, it makes me want to twirl around in circles.. it flies like streamers in the wind.

Absolutely amazing what nature has to offer! Guys, if you have any local trees like this.. you have to give this a shot :) By the way, Edric's been posting some outtakes and random stories of our day of adventure over on his blog here, so be sure to pop by and have a read of my special Star Trek sign that i unconsciously picked up from watching too much Big Bang Theory.. haha

Now i've been meaning to do a press post to share with you the latest and ever so exciting magazines and online features my blog has been grateful to be in, but i keep feeling like i'm never going to go around it. Annika from Sofis Mode wrote me a beautiful blogger feature for their Swedish pring magazine, ALEXIS Magazine from Singapore has been so kind to feature me in their monthly Global Trends pages, Cosmopolitan Shopping Russia (photos coming soon) featured me in a special printed shopping edition of their mag, Betts Shoes featured me in their Nationwide Spring/Summer campaign (eek!! in store/newspapers!!!) and lastly, ModCloth has so kindly chosen me to be their blogger of the moment - click through to read my interview! REVERSIBLE, CONVERTIBLE

I must say that the commencement of daylight saving has given me a new found motivation to be somewhat more productive with my time (with study). Hence the lack of blogging haha. But here i am, just trying to keep up with life and time passing by too quickly without me noticing..

Anyway, it seems as if i've been straying a little off my usual style. Instead of florals and bright on bright, i'm really falling in love with neutrals. I bet i've already said something like this before, so i'm probably repeating myself. BUT! I keep finding myself staring at cream, beige and other muted colours.

Check out my cardigan! It's reversible! One side is an aztec zigzag pattern, the other side is a full of volume fringing bohemian like style :) Pretty much two cardigans in one! I think i like the zig zag side better, it seems like it will be fabulous to mix with plain coloured tops and all. Speaking of fabulously functional reversible clothing - check out this reversible dress i spotted, two colour blocking items in one little number :)

And speaking of reversible things, convertible things are just as functional and amazing. This satchel can be worn as a shoulder bag and back pack. I use it as a backpack generally but when i need to take my super old white plastic macbook out, i use it as a laptop case and carry it on my shoulder :) My eeepc has been adopted by my dad recently so i'm stuck with lugging around the 3kg macbook to uni now.

So to celebrate the spectacularly horrible thunderstorm weather today, here's a lovely post i prepared earlier ;) I've been a really big fan of pastel/neutral sort of tones lately, whilst at the same time - of course - still drooling over the colour blocking trend. Cream and beige tones have suddenly become my best friends in garments and well i really couldn't say no to this combination of soft colours.

These platform wedges are a gift from YesStyle. My sister actually received the parcel when i was at uni and she decided she'd extend her sisterly duties to cover services such as "mail opening" and kindly opened this parcel for me and wore them around the house for me, then took a photo and MMS-ed it to me. Damn. She takes the fun out of opening parcels. I swear that's the best part of online shopping! But hey, i like these shoes :)

I think i'm a huge fan of these sort of bohemian looking pendant necklaces. Feathers, beaded motifs and tassels are my favourite. This one you've probably seen in a few of my outfits before. I never really get sick of it!

This asymmetrical maxi skirt is just amazing! It's all floaty and lightweight. Floats perfectly in the lightest breeze. WHITE & AZTEC

So when i first received these sandals in the mail the first thing that came to mind was.. WOW they are crazy!!! I've never ever owned a pair of sandals in more than one colour and these had what.. at least five colours? Not to mention crazy beads all over it. Lost for words, all i could think was, what do i match these with! Normally i like to wear crazy prints on my clothes and then have a pair of plain coloured shoes (you know, plain black, plain brown, plain cream, the usual). When that thought hit me, i immediately had a shoepiphany (shoe epiphany, ya know?). Why don't i wear my crazy 'printed' stuff as my shoes, and then pair it with something plain and one coloured, in terms of my clothing? And how creative did i get with that? I went for white! And lots of it. And you know what? I love the end look!!!

I really like how the white colours i wore didn't create too much noise or disturbance with the statement making shoes. It kept the whole outfit simple, yet there's still a little bit of detail in the lace layers of my skirt and the tucked in belt :)

The wreath really inspired me to play around and create this outfit as well. It really conjured up for me scenes of fairy girls prancing around in the woods with picnic baskets and what not and so i definitely had to include it in my look! It's handmade and for sale here in my Etsy store along with a bunch of other newly listed woodland creations :)

Told you they were crazy detailed.. so cool, i've never seen anything like it!

So a few weeks ago we went to maroondah dam to have a little picnic with and take photos of the scenery. It was a lovely day for an outdoor event (which was by the way organised by the uni photography club - aw how cute :D) I mean i wish i had more to say but my memory is getting a bit hazy.. But i do remember taking tonnes of photos of flowers, freaking out whilst crossing a insanely long - i swear, 100 m bridge, having nasi lemak for the first time in my life and sort of dying from the chilli but pretending not to because it was so good, going crazy over a friend's fish eye lens. There were a few nice walking trails around the park which were unfortunately closed when we went, though the scenery was quite nice in general.. very serene if you ask me!

I decided to wear something comfy for the day - some flat boots with socks, a casual dress and a denim jacket which really doesn't get as much wear considering how much i actually love it! I think out of all the photos i took, my favourite (stupid blogger is showing a squiggly red line under favourite.. *note to self* must change language to australian english) would have to be the one of the water tap. I don't know why but i really love the lighting there! I think in terms of me and photography, i love taking photos of random objects and nature, just like what i've spammed this so called 'fashion blog' with in this post!

Cosima De Vito - When the War is Over

I really wish that old things like boomboxes, telegrams, typewriters, box brownies, antique telephones and record players never went so 'extinct'. I think it's a little bit sad to throw these historical items out - it's like throwing out a bit of history and if every one was to throw away their boomboxes.. then there would be none left (well done Sherlock)! So that's why i like collecting these old things. My parents think i'm crazy, buying second hand bits and pieces which they had only just chucked out a couple of decades ago because they were quote: "useless". So far, i've bought myself a fabulous, huge and completely unportable red boom box. But every time i visit a market with old home wares and bric a brac, i am always so tempted to buy that glass fruit bowl, completely broken but oh so beautiful camera or the countless sets of delicate teacup sets!

Today is my Etsy store's one year anniversary :) And what better way to celebrate with.. 100 Etsy sales! I also just wanted to say a bit thank you to Lara from Frankie Magazine for featuring my hair accessories on the Frankie blog. Pretty much the most amazing thing that has happened in my hair accessories making career..! So big love to Frankie Magazine (as well as their fabulous magazine as well!)

Just another one of the outfits edric shot. These were taken under the shade of a nice line of trees in a secluded corner of the gardens. We tried to do a few ghostly/intentionally blurred shots where on the count of three, i was to tilt sideways slowly. Personally, i had no idea how those photos were going to look like but they turned out pretty neat! I think edric's photography style and editing style is really similar to what i like so :)

I'm really finding this top quite interesting. At first i hit a bit of a roadblock in trying to work out what to pair it with. But i did some experimenting and came up with this little look. I think the texture and knit works quite well with the pleats and patterns on the skirt, i think it will be quite a common combination these days - plain top / patterned bottoms. Loose knit jumpers, floral prints, a sneaky peace necklace and tonnes of wedges. Things that will probably get a good work out this spring. And with the forecast-ed 25 degree weather tomorrow, i might just wear this outfit again.

Plain White T's - Rhythm of Love ♡

A few weeks ago Filipino photographer Edric came to Melbourne and we collaborated on a little photoshoot! He's shot a lot of amazing people from LOOKBOOK.nu before including Tricia, Kryz, Mayo, Peter, & Bethany before heading down under for Australia :) Unfortunately my week that week was quite packed (more backlogged photos to come of what i ended up getting up to!) but we did manage to squeeze in a lovely morning shoot at a local public gardens. Edric was absolutely lovely and i think one of the most amazing things about being a blogger is being able to connect with other bloggers from different parts of the world which you would have never ever been able to meet before!

So here's the first of the looks we shot. I've been trialling out a lipstick/blush called Lip2Cheek from REM @ Bathing Beauty. My heels are of a beautiful murky colour i can only describe as a mix between mustard and nude. They are superbly high but oh so superbly leather and comfortable and from Italian designer Fabi or (Facebook here). For this look i was going for a very vintage inspired Spring time picnic outfit (hence the straw suitcase bag which i can just see myself stuffing with picnic goodies) - i think Edric's editing really reflected that mood as well! And of course, i don't think i could ever say no to a nice collared dress and a bow somewhere in my outfit too. And i don't think i need to say anything about my hat, i am in love with it but i'm sure you know!

Speaking of photos and all, last weekend my DSLR DIED!!! I cannot get over the sadness it has brought to me haha, basically a firmware issue which you can read about here. If any of you have Canon EOS 1000d cameras (the model i have) make sure you update your firmware asap (if you haven't done so in the past two years.. personally i never knew we had to update firmware for our cameras.. haha) to avoid your camera dying on you :( I'm heading to the Canon repair centre today and they better fix my camera for free as promised in that press release two years ago or i'll be back soon to mope about it!

So one of my good friends Roy is what i can only attest to being a fabulous photographer. He borrowed a full frame camera off a friend last week and wanted to test it out. Put two and two together and we ended up doing this mini photo shoot after class. I have noticed since receiving the photos that i have some sort of an extremely goofy smile in most of them. Well.. i guess you could say i'm a bit of a smiley person and when you have a jolly photographer as well.. it's sort of hard to pull any serious faces.

The shot of me in the tree was actually quite hard to achieve. Because i had to climb that tree. Or get lifted to get onto that tree haha. I was pretty much extremely scared the whole entire time and it didn't help that the sun was shining right into my face. We ended up getting a passer by/(thankfully a friend) and forcefully made him hold up a sunlight diffusing thing (i'm so technical with photography sometimes..) in order to get that shot.

The charm style bracelet is a surprise gift from Soufeel who makes cute little charm bracelets which you can customise with your own beads. I guess they knew me well as i received a tan brown banded one - pretty much my staple accessories colour most of the time and perfect for mixing with some other boho sort of bracelets i plan on wearing more this spring :)

Okay this is absolutely crazy but over the past few weeks i've done quite a few photoshoots and well, i've steadily gotten myself a pretty big fat HUGE-MONGOUS chunk of backlogged posts. Which i guess serves me well since i am so busy these days! This is the first 'studio' sort of shoot i have been at. (By the way, just putting it out there that i can be a pretty awkward model) Anyway, it was the first time, aside from annual school photos, where i was being shot with artificial lighting set up around me.

This is a selection of my favourite photos. I put together an outfit that was much more hmm urban or rockie than what i normally wear to suit the location - an underground carpark. I guess i pulled out the most trendy items from my wardrobe and just mixed them all together, resulting in a clashing of prints, more prints and.. sequins? Hope you like :)

Sick Puppies - All the Same

So i'm 2700/3000 words and on the way to almost completing my latest uni assignment. Actually 16 days early might i add, but this is basically in preparation for the hectic couple of weeks i have coming up. So what better way to celebrate than an update on my blog! I've been searching for this exact cape for ages now, i first saw this online on Ebay, but the colour i wanted was sold out. I pretty much couldn't believe my eyes when this cape arrived in a surprise package of love from Chicwish. My life, pretty much compete. I think what pretty much drew me to this cape in the first place on ebay was the cute shape it has when it you lay it flat. It's almost like an egg shape with an eskimo hood which drives me crazy (in a good way!).

I put my outfit together with simple, casual and a neutral palette in mind. The light blue denim skirt surprisingly worked great in the ensemble and i really could not say no to my pocket boots. Hey guys!!! It's officially the last day of the Romwe covergirl contest & so the last day to vote for me :) Please don't forget! Only a few votes shy of the top three! So please vote for me if you haven't already!

This set of photos is probably my favourite from the lot, they were the ones taken with lizzie at the park. I think it must be because of how the red and blue stand out so much against the green. Also, i love how we managed to capture the bubbles floating whimsically in the air around me! We went through almost three tubes of bubble mix on the day. Two small ones and a large one. I think i pretty much had a permanent 'bubble face' on.

The shirt and hat are lizzie's and i came up with this outfit on the morning of the shoot by pairing it with my red denim shorts! I think i must have packed at least 10 outfits, in fact i'm pretty sure i did. Pretty ambitious for a 2.5 hour shoot but nevertheless, we did get quite a bit done!

Anyway, off to sleep now ♡

FOURTH CRUSADE

Hello! Just a quick update with an outfit a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to make it short and sweet as i have about a bazillion things i need to get done before i go to sleep tonight. Firstly, i received this lovely rainbow beaded necklace from Aussie jewellery store - Fourth Crusade. Cute name huh? In fact, what's cuter, is the packaging. The square cards below? They're business cards. How creative right :)

So anyway, in my mind i pictured this necklace going perfectly well with a simple floaty white dress to wear twirling around some grassy fields. Alas, i did not have any grass fields to near me, nor could i find my only white dress. So this was the second best thing. A white blouse and some plain coloured pieces to allow the necklace to be the statement piece. I'm still looking forward to finding my white dress or just finding the perfect white dress in general to wear this necklace with, you may see it again when Spring/Summer arrives!

In other news, i am busy being a busy bee and am finding it extremely tough to manage everything on my plate this semester. Why do i find it worse than last semester? I don't know. I guess perhaps with my growing blog (now 3000+ google followers! <3) and just the overall workload of my degree + just everything else i am finding it extremely hard to answer all the messages i get through lookbook, twitter, my blog email, chictopia, facebook + the many other ways i seem to be able to be contacted online. Pretty much lagging in all aspects over here so, bear with me for a while! I think i'm pretty thankful that i have a generously sized backlog of posts going on right now for my blog, or else i might not even have time to update twice a week!

A RAINBOW SPRING

A few weeks ago the lovely Lizzie and i went to some suburban gardens to do this vintage themed photo shoot. It was a sneaky sunny day with lots of morning frost and wetness. We spent the day rolling a suitcase around the gravel paths and sinking our heels into the muddy hills, but it was all worth it in the end as it was tonnes of fun and we got tonnes of shots as well!

Here is the first outfit that i style for the day, i'm wearing a velvet black dress which was to contrast with the colourful helium balloons we got at the local party supplies shop. Lizzie did my hair in a low bun, i've never had my hair like this before and despite it not holding too well (unfortunately i've just started growing my layers out), i love it :)

Between our photos, we accidentally got our balloons caught up on the tree and somehow i magically jumped in my heels in gravel (quite dangerous now that i think about it) and managed to grab hold of the string before a taller passerby helped us maneuver them out. Anyway it was an extremely fun morning and there are many more photos to come. This is just the first batch, and i've been trialling some new photo editing methods now that my lag-free computer is proving to be much more easier to use.

Tomorrow i'm doing another little photoshoot in the morning, can't wait to share. But for now, thanks lizzie for the lovely photos & hair :)

Hi there!!! It's yours truly logging in now at about 9.59PM on Monday night to blog from my new computer. Yes, that's right! I've got a new computer!!! If you follow me on Twitter, then you've probably heard about me whinging about my lagging hand-me-down of a computer, 'twas a over eight year old veteran machine which presented me with great lagging capabilities when over three internet windows were open, took over 5 minutes per action i click on photoshop, froze every few days unexpectedly, probably had a bazillion different spyware/malware/trojans on it and had not only a broken cd/dvd drive, but also a broken USB port and well.. not really the computer's fault, but also came with a a degenerating monitor which displayed grey/light blue/light pink/anything light as white (oh have i been deceived!). Oh boy, it was some sort of an ancient intel pentium core duo processor with well.. 512mb ram?

Now! Presenting! My new computer. It's operates with the latest processor and has 8gb worth of ram. That's pretty much 15 times what i used to have!!! Now when i open photoshop, it loads instantly and i can pretty much open as many internet windows i want and just wow! I can't believe i don't even care my bank account is empty..

So anyway, /end new computer happiness rave/ - these strange sort of geometric/aztec patterned trackpants looking harem pants are from my mum. Actually, it's quite funny how i acquired them. My mum walked out the door to attend what i believe is.. my sister's parent-teacher interview night and she wore these pants. I looked at them in an expression of 'i need those in my life!' and she said 'oh i was just going to chuck these out'. And before i knew it, i had full ownership rights of those pants. Both to possess, use and enjoy. Yes i study property law. But no we don't really talk about the law of who owns pants. I wore these pants to tom's house a couple of weeks ago and when he saw he, he just stared at them with an expression of 'what are you wearing?!' I'm pretty sure they are hugely grandma and i'm still not sure how to pull them off but so far, this is how i've been wearing them.

My watch is from Breo.com, a lovely UK company that's recently expanded to Aussie :) This is the style i got and both my sister and tom have fallen in love with it! Actually the funniest thing was that a couple of weeks ago, my sister was telling me about these watches with the 'jelly' wristbands and how she likes them, so now we're sharing :) It's a lovely hot pink colour which reminds me of the colour blocking trend that's going around at the moment and will be perfect for my Spring outfits!

Oh and i have one more thing to say. I am in love with the speed of my new computer and you can probably tell by the amount i have typed. Actually that could also be due to the fact that i got a new keyboard which types silently. As opposed to my old keyboard where i had to really bash those keys down to get anything on my screen. Not to mention that my lag-free machine now enables me greater flexibility to play around with the editing of my photos which you will see soon!

As the weather starts to warm up, i have suddenly found myself longing for the spring/summer season ahead. All this inspiration from the northern hemisphere is really getting my excited for some hopefully mild temperature summer days. Of course, i'm not at all interested in those sticky 40 C plus days.. those ones are ..bad. Anyway i've been thinking about what i'd like to be wearing this summer and i'm getting all excited about buying cropped tops to wear with high waisted skirts/shorts/pants! I don't know but the silhouette of such an outfit really appeals to me, after spending many of my days with tops tucked into my high waisted bottoms :)

I'm wearing my tassel suede bag again and a some blue american print shorts, topped off with a candy pink scalloped t-shirt which was snapped on a day that was fortunately sunny and 20something degrees. Funnily enough, i really wanted to wear these shorts again today with a vintage koala jumper i had. But then i thought about it.. koala jumper = Australia. american shorts = America. That sounds like a rather strange combination so i didn't haha.

Lisa Mitchell: Sun Sun Sun

My bad! It's been a little longer than 24 hours but i just got home so.. i'm excused :D I wore this outfit last week to uni and Tom snapped these pics for me! It's probably the fifth time or something that he's used my dslr and i'm really happy with how they turned out :) We were blessed with great lighting on the day as well.

My brown leather boots realllly need a polish. The heels are pretty much worn out now, i've had them for almost three years now, and being vintage boots i am thoroughly surprised and happy about how much trauma they have gone through. They have lasted so so long and i'm extremely happy but i think they're going to fall apart soon :(

I guess this is the type of outfit i have been going for when dressing for uni. Shorts/skirts + top + chunky cardigan. Actually the day i wore this it was some 20 degrees.. today, being 16 of course, i doubled up on the cardigans. Oh and you can't tell, but i have a long sleeve under my t-shirt :) Sneaky layering huh!

I've been trialling this backpack for uni over the last couple of weeks and i've got to say that it is one of the most functional bags i've ever owned (that is big enough for uni). And my statement is based on the side pocket on the right which i put my metcard in, making it super handy to take it out and up it back in when i take the bus to uni. I take two buses to get to uni so i have to pretty much take my metcard out and put it back in at least.. *counts* four times per trip! Anyway i always carry quite a bit to uni so i get paranoid that the strap will break off but so far.. so good.

PS. I've gotten a few emails on my eiffel tower dress from Romwe, i'm sad to say that it's been sold out now :( If they ever restock it i'll be sure to let you guys know!

SEND ME TO FRANCE

Photos are by Tom! I think this is the third outfit he's taken photos of for me now! :)

So aside from New York and America in general, the other place which i really really want to visit is Europe. It used to be only France, but after seeing photos of bloggers from all over as well as beautiful photography in some ethereal looking islands, i've decided that i really want to visit the entire continent. Those beautiful stone tile roads, creamy coloured buildings, cosy little shops lining the strets and green fields and hills are things i've seen only in pictures. The closest i could get to being anywhere near Europe would be this dress. How sad.. someone please send me to France! Oh, why i just got myself a blog post title.

When i first saw this dress on Romwe i knew i had to have it. I have a thing for clothing emblazoned with countries and cities i want to visit. There's the toi et moi jumper which says 'Tokyo, Sydney, Paris, New York, London'. Then there's the Button n Thread 'I <3 New York' tshirt and now there's the Eiffel tower tank dress. I think the only one's i'm missing is probably a Kings Cross print dress and maybe just a dress with the print of the whole entire world..

The bag and blazer are from the ever so sweet girls at Chicwish.com who sent me a surprise package the other day.. thankyou! Some beautiful tan brown additions to my wardrobe. The leather bag is actually hand embroidered and all and it is really driving me crazy as the suede feel makes me want to pat and rub all the time! Yeah and i can't get enough of the tassel and somewhat bohemian vibe it gives. My favourite :) Lately i've been really swaying towards creams, browns, pinks and navy for some reason. I feel like i'm going into a more pastel/neutral phase but that said, it wouldn't be surprising if i came back a few days later with a candy coloured outfit!

Kani handmade hair wreath, vintage dress & belt, Betts wedges

Here is a little bit of a two in one post since i am going to be talking about two things in one! I guess i didn't need to explain the last part but i thought i would anyway. These are just a few snaps off one of the outfits i styled for the Betts 5 Ways to Wear project, this is one of my mother's vintage dresses from the 70s, (i believe).. it seems like quite a youthful print and will be perfect for the springtime ahead. I obviously like my flowers.

My mother is slowly letting me raid her old vintage dresses she used to wear so perhaps this spring/summer i will end up with a few more new additions to my wardrobe. Sadly though, she told me that she threw out over 80% of her clothing when she migrated here.. All i could think in my head was.. NOO NOO NOO! Once i bought a pair of vintage boots online and she looked at them and said, 'hey i used to have them twenty something years ago, but i threw them out.' Oh and she tends to add 'they were so much nicer than the ones you bought too.' Oh how sad and distraught i tend to feel haha!

Also, a couple of weeks ago i was informed by Romwe.com that i was selected as a candidate in their Romwe covergirl contest. It's a competition they are running for some of the top bloggers around the world to determine who will be featured on their new reusable bags which they will be sending out with all customer orders. PPPS. You may have heard me complaining about my computer lagging even though i have four internet windows open or something similar.. well guess what? I've decided that i'm going to buy a new computer to replace my one. My one is actually really old and slow. It used to be my dad's computer and it has been active for over eight years now! Yes i know. I run a brick. But therethere, it will soon be replaced. And my bank statement will also soon be replaced. With a $0 sign. But here's to a more efficient future where i don't have to wait for 5 minutes whilst Adobe Reader shuts down or i don't have to deal with random computer freezes or uncalled for computer restarts. This is like some sort of electronic revolution for me as i've never been really into running the latest software or anything. My mp3 player (which i don't use) is like a big usb stick. I know. haha. I still love it though.

So I was going through my computer the other day and i realised that i had a lot of outfits worn that i have not posted on my blog. They're just sitting around gathering dust now so i thought i should put them all together into one blog post to show you a quick glimpse of some of them. Some of them i had only had time to post on Lookbook.nu only and some of them i hadn't even posted at all. A few are from before i got my front fringe and a few are after. I still can't decide whether i like my side fringe or front fringe better, i sort of miss my eyebrows in a way..

From this collection of photos i guess i have confirmed for myself that i love socks and tights as well as skirts and dresses. There was a phase a few months ago when i was really into denim but i really don't know what happened there. Perhaps the only two pairs of jeans in my wardrobe have become hidden amongst my other things which have caused me to neglect them. You know what? I think i'll wear jeans next week, craving them again.

Yesterday i realised that the galaxy skirt from Romwe was restocked with 16 left so i posted a link on Facebook to share with you all. It actually ended up being sold out after about six hours and i'm so glad those who wanted one managed to get their hands on one too! I love it so much :) Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :) I just spent the morning handwashing and washing baskets full of clothing, had potato salad and chicken wings for lunch and now i'm about to start some marketing study!

Hi there! It's been a while since i've posted.. four days to be exact :) Well what has changed? Well firstly, you may have realised that my blog header has just gone through a fabulous makeover. Do you like my new illustrated image? It's by the lovely Ester who resides in Europe and is a fantastic artist. She offered to draw me a personalised header for my blog and i just had to give it a go. I gave her a few details, asking for scallop circles, leaves, birds and nature and pops of brown and she came back with this amazing piece of art, drawn with graphite and derwent pencils. How talented is she? Thankyou, Ester!

Next! I've been getting a lot of emails/messages asking two very common questions. "Where's that galaxy skirt from?" and "How did you do the levitation photos?" Ok! I am going to answer them here, in case i accidentally read an email or message and forget to click reply (for some reason i sometimes have a tendency to reply in my head and then forget to actually reply). Firstly, the galaxy skirt was from Romwe and it is unfortunately out of stock and not being restocked. However! Romwe does still have i believe maxi skirts (?), t-shirts and asymmetrical hemmed dresses with the same print, just search 'star print' in the search bar and they should pop up. In terms of how the levitation photos were taken, no i am not a contortionist, the photos were created via two photo layers. First you take a photo of the background with your tripod, then you put a stool/table/something to help you levitate into the frame and use it to create your pose. And then you pop them on your computer and layer them on top of each other and erase the stool to get your final image :) I learnt this online and it's quite easy to do! If anyone does attempt it i'd love to see your shots!

A few weeks ago i was contacted by Andrea of Betts Shoes with a lovely offer to participate in their '5 Ways to Wear' project. The idea was to show five different ways to style a shoe and i chose a beautiful cork platform wedge called Sunrise, new to the Spring/Summer '11 collection to complete my project!

It was indeed a challenge thinking up five outfits in one go to show all the looks but i definitely had tonnes of fun putting together the different looks. Being a Spring/Summer shoe, i did find it somewhat difficult to take the photos on a cold 14 degree day, hence the sock use :P I guess i feel sympathetic for models when they shoot swimwear shots in the middle of winter! Anyway you can see the feature up here on the Betts Blog. I'm actually a big fan of this shoe so when it really does become Spring, you may see me donning this pair a lot. They're actually really comfy.

My outfit from above is obviously one of the looks from my Betts feature, it's one of my favourite ones and i hope you enjoy it too! I would just also like to say that semester two of university started yesterday and i am inundated with assignments already, mainly because topics are always released at the start of the semester and i feel like i should be getting started on them too. Also, i made a million handmade hair accessories over the break so you will be seeing those popping up soon on my Etsy!

Mike from Lookbook.nu asked me to participate in a 'flying' collaboration with a few other Lookbook.nu users Johanne, Bobby & more! So today i attempted some photos in light of this cute little collaboration! I also took some levitation photos, it's the first time i have created a levitation photo before so i'm not very good at it, though it was extremely fun taking the shots :) Here's my 'flying' look for the collaboration and you can see the other ones popping up on Lookbook.nu soon too.

For this look i decided to wear my space/galaxy skirt from Romwe which i guess suits the theme. It's got the coolest galaxy print on it and i just had to buy it when i saw it online! :) I paired with lots of black - a black skivvy, black tights, black belt and black wedges.

Tom and i headed out to the CBD last friday. We left at 4.30pm, to which my mother inquired: "are you going clubbing?" and took the bus down to what was originally going to be just collecting my 120 film from my diana camera. Instead, we ended up collecting my film, successfully finding Yu-U on flinders lane (has anyone been? it's underground with a few frosty and shady looking cellar like windows and a signless door. So scary but so cosy inside. Anyway it was booked out so we ended up having some yum cha dumplings at Chinatown, followed by a trip to a lollyshop to buy a bag full of assorted sour lollies and some seafood curry laksa at Red Silks.

We stopped by JB Hi-Fi where i snapped a shot of an headphone brand's slogan 'when it's too late to be loud - late night gaming'. When we went to catch the bus, we realised we had missed it and ended up dawdling around in big w, where i got a $1 tube of bubble liquid which gave me the funnest half hour of my week :)

These photos were taken at the bus stop, where i bumped into my high school chemistry teacher jogging, on the bus and out and about in the city. I was testing out different modes for night time photography and hence the bountiful amounts of happy snaps. Outfit photos were by tom :) Sadly, we didn't get any photos together, i forgot to pack my other lens with me. We also forget to check out the weekly Friday night fireworks happening at the Docklands, oh well!

Lastly, i've been receiving some lovely artistic mail in the inbox lately but i always seem to forget to publish them on my blog, here's a beautiful drawing by Ester (thankyou so much ♡), have a peep! To see the rest of the album, just check here!

PIZZA IN THE PARK

The other day my sister and i went out to our local Pizza Hut to grab a quick lunch to eat at the park. Super supreme, my favourite one. We fought mother nature as we ate our pizza. An ant tried to join us and every now and then there would be a gush of wind. There was also a bee stalking us for our entire meal and i was thoroughly paranoid, apparently it was because i was wearing bright colours :(

We took quite a few snaps and here are some of my favourite photos! I've been taking my camera out with me more often than normal as i've finally braved the thought of carrying a 1kg (i swear) heavier load in my bag and the stares that i get when i whip it out. It's not even big for a dslr..! The outfit photos are by my sister, the other ones are by me - she wouldn't let me post any photos of her though. I really like the spider web photo in particular (i almost walked into it!) i took while experimenting with manual focus.

These boots of mine have been getting quite a bit of a bashing lately, they're pretty much the only flat ankle boots i own and are also the first pair of vintage boots i had ever bought, i got them off Etsy :) They have been scuffed so much at the front that no polish or anything is ever going to make them look perfect anymore, i think it's time for me to hunt down another pair as these have really served me well, it's been almost two years since i've had them!

Today i got a lovely surprise in my inbox today, a lovely drawing by Abby, i always love receiving drawings, drawing is something i've never been capable of mastering!

People always seem to ask me questions about myself etc, so here's another recent interview i've done - i was Nuffnang's July blogger of the month and you can check out some questions i've answered here! Lisa Mitchell - Coin Laundry

Continuing on from yesterday, this is the outfit accompanying the necklace. It is a bit more black then what i normally wear as i tend to stray away from black since i have long black hair to begin with. My jumper is velvet and has tiny little strands of gold and green.. glitter? on it which is actually quite prickly to put on and touch. I added a pop of contrast via the vintage orange hair bow and pink tassel bag from Chicwish. I think this skirt is officially mine now, i wear it more than my sister and she seems to have happily settled on constantly borrowing my red skirt from this post. Actually, now that i think about it, we share wardrobes quite readily :)

MY KANI NECKLACE

Look what came in the mail this week! A personalised name necklace sent by Niki from My Name Necklace. I guess i've always wanted one ever since early summer this year when i walked past a little stall in the middle of a shopping centre in Surfer's Paradise selling similar name necklaces, but made out of wire.

I chose the 18 inch chain so that it was long enough for me to wear over collars and have it peeping out underneath.. almost like a sweater guard. I tried on different necklace lengths to work out that it was a 18 inch chain which i needed, very confusing but i am glad i ended up getting the right length. The font i chose (gosh there were so many different ones!) was a less swirly one compared to the normal Carrie version. I went this one because it didn't have as many swirls and wouldn't make the 'i' in Kani look like an 'e' :) Super cute and sure to be popping up in my future outfits.. gives it a little Kani touch.

SWEATERS AND SWEATER GUARDS

This winter i am loving sweaters and.. sweater guards! My cardigan here is just one of the ones from my mother. She used to wear it back when she lived in china and just doesn't wear it anymore and hence it got handed down to me. And i love it. The beautiful woolly feel, little aztec looking print - it's got running people on it and adorable little bronze and black buttons! Paired with my very own vintage sweater guard, which has pretty much been almost permanently attached to this blouse now. I have this inkling that sweater guards might just become quite a trend in terms of vintage fashion now so i'm glad i have one to call my own. They're great as a substitute for necklaces, especially when you don't want a cold chain wrapped around your neck! It's gold tone, has two little chains on it and cute floral pearl clips :)

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I went to model (awkwardly) for a photoshoot on sunday, can't wait to see the pictures, hopefully i didn't look as awkward as i somewhat felt. It was the first time i had been in a studio sort of set up with soft boxes galore and random umbrellas and reflectors out of no where. But the shoot was done at an underground carpark and the location looked amazing!

Plain White T's - Rhythmn of Love

I'm feeling a little navy riding hood with this outfit of the day and i just couldn't help but put up my hood for a few of the photos! My duffle cape is from ASOS and probably needs an iron, probably should have ironed it before i wore it. My vintage dress is from my mum, she wore it back in the 70s. It has now been shortened for me to wear :) My trusty pocket boots keep me comfy with it's low heel - yes the pocket is real! No i didn't put anything in it. And of course, my trusty Chicwish bag.

I'm about to go take some quick snaps of some more nature inspired headbands i've made recently and i also can't wait to share some exciting new additions to my wardrobe! Hope everyone's having a lovely thursday, it's apparently going to be hailing and potentially storming today in melbourne.. no!!!

TAN AND LACE

A girly outfit today, featuring a lot of soft pastel shades. I'm wearing a tan and lace dress from Chicwish, which is essentially a skirt attached to a singlet, with a separate scalloped lace top on top! Pretty smart right? To make a dress into two separate pieces so that they can be mix and matched with other items as well. Not to mention how much i am loving the neutral colours! I decided to pair it with a pink cardigan on top and also another coat on top.

This bag has quickly become a staple of mine, alongside my currently most used bag - a certain brown vintage shoulder bag, which coincidentally, is getting old! Talk about good timing. These two bags are the only small bags i own which fit my dslr in it which is probably why they get used so much. I'm actually loving the buttons closure of this bucket bag, i don't quite know how to explain but there's basically a button flap on the top which is so easy to open and close and makes taking things in and out of the bag so easy!!! I can't explain how helpful this is when one needs to grab out their metcard, phone, wallet, takeaway lunch all in one go.. like today!

These tights have also been massly loved over here, so much that i bought another pair in case my first pair rips. And the bow in my hair? That's just a representation of what i have been spending my weekend doing ♡

PS. Today i signed myself onto the waiting list to get my wisdom teeth out. I think i'm going to have nightmares tonight..haha

VINTAGE OVERALLS & A FLORAL VELVET CARDIGAN

Vintage floral velvet cardigan, blouse & overalls, cream wool tights from Myer and ASOS suede wedges.

These are the vintage overalls that i purchased recently and am loving quite a bit. They're actually quite a small size, i have to adjust the straps to the longest length for them to fit me (i'm not even that tall) so i have a feeling they may have been kids overalls or something! They're superbly great to wear and have a bazillion pockets which i don't really need, even though pockets are always so handy to have on clothing!

The cardigan - i'm not sure if i've ever posted it on the blog before. I've had it for quite some time. It came to me double my size and my mum helped me take all the pieces apart, cut them smaller and sew it back together again. So now it's a little bit more my size and definitely getting much more wear!

And of course, my trusty blouse with triple the peter pan collar goodness, which i think i'm going to end up wearing to shoot all my headband photos. It's quite a plain piece which is still has a little retro and cutesy vibe to it. I totally did not just spend the last two days reshooting my headband photos wearing this blouse..

I have made a few video posts on Photobooth and just need to convert them into an uploadable format for Youtube before i can post them. So expect a few short video logs from me soon - by video logs i mean less than 45 second long clips..! But for now, tomorrow is me & my bf's 2.5 years together <3 I'm going to be making some strawberry and cream cake in the morning. I'm sure he won't read this because he's playing black ops right now.. so don't worry, it won't be spoiled ;)

PS! I am, for the timebeing, on the LOOKBOOK.nu top 25 all time leaderboard!! I'm 25th so any day i'll get kicked off since i don't post that much to retain my spot but man! I am so so excited i even printscreened for memories haha.. i'm the only aussie on it at the moment!! anyway i most definitely could not have done it without all your hypes so thanks so much everyone for giving me this moment of excitement! ♡♡♡ Perhaps it will encourage me to post more looks..!
